Watford Youth Sports FC was formed in the season 2001/02 by our founder Simon Perry, we are based at Woodside Playing Fields, Horseshoe lane, Watford
A "vision" of a Sports club that provided football and sport for all, with well meaning and dedicated volunteer's helping to run it, were the driving force behind the decision to set up a "brand new club" with a slightly "different approach" to Youth football.
Striving to provide quality coaching for youngsters coupled with an appreciation of the needs of youngsters to enjoy their football, finishing every game with a smile on their face, looking forward to next week’s game.
Our club identity is associated with fair play, sporting nature & quality coaching. Every member of our Club is a valued member, regardless of ability. All are encouraged to fully participate.
We do not hold "trials" for mini-soccer players, our challenge is to develop and encourage all players to fulfill their potential and enjoy their football.
Qualified Coaches
Each Manager & Coach is qualified or working towards at least FA level one standard , ensuring all Members receives adequate coaching. All are familiar with "good practise" and "child protection" procedures having completed FA organised workshops & CRB checks. All are committed to on-going learning and Coach development.
Early days...
The first training session's and games were held at Oxhey Playing fields, and as the Club began to attract more youngsters, the decision to move to Woodside was taken, which has been our "base" ever since. Training sessions and mini-soccer games are held on the playing fields and astro turf every Saturday and Sunday morning.
Many obstacles were overcome through a determination to succeed & with the help & commitment of our Team of Managers / Coaches and Committee Members, that "vision" is becoming more of a reality as the seasons pass.
From that first season of fourteen Players, the Club now provides football for approximately 250 youngsters, both boys & girls, a number which is steadily increasing as the months go by. Social events throughout the season, provide an opportunity for all Members and their families to get to know each other, strengthening the Club and Community bond.
Watford Youth Sports is affiliated to the Herts FA: Youth Teams X-HER4845, Adults X-HER4760.
